I wanted to provide you an update regarding Shoplifting, which members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. On Thursday 18th December 2025 Geoff Kilday was sentenced to 22 months in prison for 20 theft offences committed across the whole of Camden targeting retail premises but in particular Boots Chemists stealing thousands of pounds worth of stock.
In addition to the custodial sentence the judge also granted an application for a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) for a period of 5 years with the following conditions:
1: Not to enter the areas of Hampstead, Highgate, Belsize Park or St. John’s Wood for any reason (a) – Except to travel through on the tube or by train but you cannot alight from the transport for whatever reason. 2: If told by staff at any retail premises in England and Wales to leave he must leave the store immediately. 3: Adhere to any store banning order given to him. 4: When interacting with police must not provide any false details. 5: To not enter or loiter outside any Reiss store in England and Wales. 6: To not enter or loiter outside any B&Q store in England and Wales. 7: To not enter or loiter outside any Boots Chemist in England and Wales. 8: To not enter or loiter outside any Holland & Barrett store in England and Wales.
These conditions will greatly impede any future offences, providing protection to retailers and staff at locations where he has committed his offences without regard to anyone but himself.
This was a complicated investigation involving officers from a number of different Safer Neighbourhood Teams who all worked together to secure this conviction and its accompanying CBO.
